Blog Psychology and Artificial Intelligence
Recently there has been the introduction of  Artificial Intelligence into provide advice, treatment, diagnosis and analysis of many mental issues individuals are trying to overcome.
Updated 11/18/2025
I taught Psychology as well as advised many students and individuals on their many mental, social, emotional and psychological issues. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence in the treating, diagnosing, and advising individuals is not recommended. This system dehumanizes the process and provides many dangers for the individual and by extension society. Recently, through computers, the introduction of AI into the process has advised and recommended the clients to do harm to themselves (including suicide), others and society. The idea of relying on algorithms, deep searches into methods, opinions, research and computer programs to help someone in emotional distress will in no way truly solve the distressing mental, emotional, psychological and physical issues facing the potential client.  The use of a human trained and experienced individual is vital to providing relief and "cure" to what ails them. A truly trained, qualified, experienced Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Advisor and Counselor must rely on training, experience and gut feelings to help analyze and treat the client. A program or computer cannot truly provide what is needed. Furthermore who is to say this development has not already opened the door to the gathering of data and information, from the individual, which can be used in the future by those that may want to do the client, and society harm!
This is not to say that a professional can not use AI to help him or her analyze the treatments, issues of their clients but in no way should it ever replace them!
