The nursing
profession has
always been an
honorable line of
work as an
assistant, supporter
and advisor to the
doctor. Starting
from the role of
"wet nurse" The
profession has grown
to mean a person who
cares for the
infirmed. Growing
from religious and
military foundations
mostly of women it
now includes in a
secular world both
men and women.
Unfortunately the
professional has not
given the
participants the
dignity nor the
compensation they
deserve. They often
have to work long
hours and are often
asked to perform
medical tasks that
should be performed
by the doctor.
During medical
emergencies they are
often relegated
tasks that is many
times above their
position, training
and education. The
profession also
suffers from chronic
understaffing, high
levels of burnout
rates and the
burdens of having to
perform tasks that
should be performed
by administrative
personal. They have
to navigate the
modern technological
advancementts
(Including
Artificial
Intelligence)
meanwhile having to
maintain the
relationship with
patient and doctor.
Often they must deal
with ethical
situations when it
comes to patient
care. Finally they
must work through
the maze of modern
communication like
social media,
texting, patient
portals, texting,
emails and phones.
Schools of nursing
must modernize their
curriculum,
hospitals and doctor
offices must
maintain constant
training and
updating of their
communication
devices along with
adequate respect,
pay and training.
