Words to make your art life easier

I am constantly bombarded with requests for my time, making commitments and planning my time.  These art events, strategies and opportunities take a lot of my time.  Many are encouraging and exciting, some are depressing but for the most part, I enjoy them.  Many times I feel that there is too much information to process.  Reading information you may respond in some way or ignore, so I have a process to help me with making decisions and actions in my life.  I have found that in one book that I have read, there are four rules to live by.  They encompass any religious standards or rules you live by and it just easy to remember. Sometimes I slip and that is ok, but I work very hard at my art career and this helps me...Quotes are from The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (this book is an easy read) So here they are:

"BE IMPECCABLE  WITH YOUR WORD:  Speak with integrity, Say only what you mean.  Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or gossip about others.  Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love."  If you are going to make an appointment, be on time, if you say you are going to help someone, follow through.  If you want to help someone with their art, follow through..Get my drift?

"DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY:  Nothing others do is because of you.  What others say and do is a projection of their won reality, their own dream.  When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering."  I have been helped so much by this.  Especially when I enter contests or a sale slips by me.  Life is too short to be concerned about another's opinion that I cannot change.

"DO NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS:  Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.  Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.  With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life."   I am constantly reviewing my actions and learning how I could have done better and keeping my agreement to not making assumptions.  This is one that I would love to do perfectly.

"ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST:  Your best is going to change from moment to moment.  It will different when you are healthy as opposed to sick.  Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret."   This one is important, especially when doing your art.  But also just in your whole life and in everything you do.
