Teacher Pay November 2 2019
Teacher Pay Teachers should be paid well, given better training and recognition for all they do. School funding needs to reflect the teacher's personal and professional needs. Often they are the forgotten heroes in our society. If we gave them half the financial rewards, publicity and recognition we give our athletes and actors, more children would strive to be a teacher. The 74 article  Why Teacher Pay Matters: Recruitment and Retention Can Improve Results ties the lack of concern for salaries by school systems and the difficulty in attracting new teachers and retaining those already in the Classroom. Ed Surge article by Jenny Abamu  The Data Tells All: Teacher Salaries Have Been Declining For Years graphically shows how compensation has declined in all the states. The NEA in their article Teacher Compensation Facts and Fiction, clarifies the public view teacher pay and how it relates to reality. We need to have the best and the brightest in the classroom for the sake of our children.
