Blog Artificial Intelligence In the Classroom
Artificial Intelligence: The creating of a system that can think and act like a human.
Robotics: The creation of machines that perform tasks that replace human activity.
Drones: An unmanned aircraft that can be used by both civilian and military personal.
Stephen Hawking told the BBC “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race….It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.”

Artificial Intelligence will alter the privacy, content, effectiveness, integrity and most of all the relationships between the students, teachers, parents and administration. It already has been used by students to study and communicate, write book reports, assignments, and homework. Teachers are starting to use AI to make daily lesson plans, create assignments, model IEP (Individual Lesson Plans) for special education, grade papers, create and evaluate tests, contact parents and administration.
Unfortunately the use of AI  has had very negative affects both directly and indirectly.
Students who use AI to write reports or do their homework, will lose the ability to do research, learn from their studies and make decisions from their efforts. Plagiarism and errors are becoming common and as a result they will find that dishonesty has rewards. . Sadly many will also fail to develop vital creative thinking skills such as gathering information, evaluating that information and making a conclustion. Furthermore they will, in many cases provide sites information which can be used negatively. I had a student become very upset when he tried to turn in a required report, which was written by his computer. He said he paid a great deal for the paper and thus it should be allowed to hand it in! Of course this did not fly with me!
Teachers can benefit from AI because it does provide an efficient way of creating worksheets, tests and grading along with attendance, and lesson plans thus giving them more time to work with the student directly. However if used incorrectly the use of AI can, reduce the personal communication with students, parents and administration, with issues of discipline and curriculum. Furthermore the overuse of AI should never be encouraged or used. Never under any way should the human element be removed from the classroom. AI should never, never replace a human TEACHER!
