Middle School Parents First Day |
The
first day of school is the day in which the
teacher first contacts his or her students.
It can be crucial to how the year will
progress. First days for Middle and High
School Students are very different than
those for Elementary School Students.
Administrators, Teachers and the students
themselves have different expectations and
at this level which have to be dealt with. |

Advice |
1. If this is a new school both
parents need to visit the school ahead
of time, meet the staff, explore the
building and ask specific questions. |
2. Talk to your child ahead of time
so the student (s) understand what you
expect of them. |
3. Have a good positive breakfast
with the child and express excitement
about the coming event. |
4. Review with them the school and
classroom rules and how they apply to
them. |
|
|
5. Make sure they have any emergency
numbers names and addresses. |
6. Check to see if they have the
right materials, school supplies and books to insure
success. |
7. Let them know that you will be
there for them in case of bullying and any form of
harassment. |
8. Impress on them that the primary
reason for school is to prepare for High School. |
9. Don't let the first day be the only time you
communicate with them! Talk to them about their day and how
they are doing in class. Be specific in your questions. |
