"A teacher, also called a schoolteacher or formally an educator, is a person who helps students to acquire knowledge, competence, or virtue, via the practice of teaching. Informally the role of teacher may be taken on by anyone (e.g. when showing a colleague how to perform a specific task). In some countries, teaching young people of school age may be carried out in an informal setting, such as within the family (homeschooling), rather than in a formal setting such as a school or college. Some other professions may involve a significant amount of teaching (e.g. youth worker, pastor) In most countries, formal teaching of students is usually carried out by paid professional teachers. This article focuses on those who are employed, as their main role, to teach others in a formal education context, such as at a school or other place of initial formal education or training." So you have decided to dedicate your life as a teacher. You are entering a field in which you will affect and effect the lives and future of many students. I my self have estimated to have affected the lives of more than 10000 young minds, hopefully for the better! To be a great teacher you must love children and only want what is best for them in so many, many ways. You will face many challenges such as inadequate salaries and benefits, overloaded classrooms, mediocre administrators, overbearing sometimes hostel, reactive or unresponsive parents, minimal supplies, students who  come from difficult backgrounds and lack motivation to achieve finally the chance that you will have to deal with violence. As a result statistics show that 50% of new teachers fail to return to the profession.
My advice is to always stay positive and remember you will be a major part of a young person's life and future. You can make them better people, citizens and parents. Without quality teachers students will lose the motivation to succeed and to make a contributions to out society. A great teacher must always encourage a student to think, reason and motive others. You can, if you are motivated, make a difference in a young individual's life. Being a great teacher is one of the most important professions, but don't always expect accolades. Know that you have done what needs to be done
