There are many
forms of business on this planet, from
huge international conglomerates to
individuals and mom and pop stores Their
primary function is make a profit and thus
remain in business. In ancient times they
provided the hunter gathers with weapons
clothing and tools (thou often the
individual did this on their own) As time
passed and agricultural economies came into
being, individuals provided implements to
ensure an abundant crop and methods of
selling and trading their produce and
receiving what they needed to survive. With
the advent of the industrial revolution a
new form of business came into existence,
that of major corporations and businesses.
They rapidly grew, created jobs, changed
educational systems, established factories,
enabled new sources of income, developed
different forms of energy, built towns and
cities, influenced governments and became a
dominant economic and political force.
Eventually new forms of social structures
were established, with very wealthy
individuals (based on business income and
replaced wealthy land owners), industrial
workers (eventually formed unions) replaced
farm workers, new policies regulations and
laws were implemented and the every day life
of the common man, woman and child changed
dramatically. Today we see tremendous
changes are now taking place. Corporations
through mergers, acquisitions and growth
have mushroomed in size and we are now have
trillionaires for the first time. Unions now
have become involved in public life and are
struggling to stay relevants
Computers, artificial intelligence, drones
and robots are replacing workers and ways of
making decisions. Business are more and more
becoming international in scope and
influence. Governments are being asked to
become more and more intertwined and
involved with and form big business. It is
if we are seeing a return in a different and
expansive manner of the
Roaring Twenties , We
must see the situation for what it is and
establish policy regulations and laws to
protect the the independence of our
governments, individual rights, small
businesses, educational systems from those
individuals and corporate interests whose
primary purpose is to make money and
influence our ways of life to better
themselves lease we enter another
Gilded Age. The purpose of government
and society is to protect its citizens and
provide them with a better life, not enable
the wealthy and corportations. |
