| As a career teacher of 35 years and
a Vice President of a teacher's Union I often
had to deal with Administrator on many levels.
Many times they were amenable to my
request but at times they were more interested
in having their way rather than trying to
resolve the issues at hand. Below are my
suggestions: |
| 1. School Systems need to hire an
administrator because they have the qualities
necessary for the job, not to fill a quota,
artificial qualification, political agenda
or personal preference. Never put an individual
in a position in what is called
Peters Principle (Individuals
promoted to a level of incompetency) |
| 2. As an Administer you must listen
to both sides of an issue before you make a
decision. Don't go into a conference with a
preconceived solution or opinion.
Be a Professional
at all times!!!!!! |
| 3. A teacher should never go into
meeting with an administrator with anger or
resentment. If you disagree with a decision
don't be afraid to file a grievance or
contacting your union. |
| 4. Parents must
communicate their concerns in a calm measured
way and try to work with the student, administrator
and teacher.
|
| 5. Students, parents and teachers should respect the
administrator and the administrator must respect
them. |
